GREELEY 2, SOMERS 2

Greeley's Varsity Field Hockey team is now bound for Sectionals! For the first time since 2002, the girls with the sticks are going for the title!

Coming in to the last scheduled game of the season, the Greeley girls were just one point shy of qualification for Sectionals but the challenge of a must win or tie was not too much for the team to handle. Instead, the Greeley Varsity Field Hockey Team came onto the field confident and ready to play against Somers, the top team in Conference 2, League B.

The Greeley girls knew that they had received good advice and guidance from Coach Meredith Jackel and Assistant Coach Mary Ellen Delillo. A united effort offensively was marked by a goal in the first half scored by senior Maggie Beller to tie the game at 1-1 and then a second half goal scored by senior Diva Agazwal to tie the game up again at 2-2. The tight defense made sure that nothing else would be shot off and goalie, Jenni Hershman stayed in the crease to block away any chance of a potential loss. The girls in orange and blue left the field in the dark of last night, simply glowing!

The Varsity girls understand that hard work and good team spirit yield them positive results. Fans and parents are even greatly appreciated and rewarded. Every person involved in this team is an important part of the success! Way to go!
