CHAPPAQUA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS 2009-2010
Grades 7 and 8
General Information for Players
and Parents
Philosophy:
The 7-8th grade middle school athletic program is the
student’s first experience with an interscholastic athletic
organization. This program is structured to encourage the student to
participate and explore his/her abilities. The sports offered embrace
all students without the fear of being cut, thus allowing students to
gain improved self-esteem, benefits of physical conditioning, skill
development and opportunities to meet students from other schools.
Competitions will only be against other 7-8th grade students.
Modified sports have fewer competitions, less time
frames for contests and a shorter season than the high school programs.
All of the coaches must maintain the same certification criteria as high
school coaches.
In order for the desired development of the adolescent
athlete and team to occur, practice sessions are vital.
