GREELEY 46, FOX LANE 34

Greeley overcame a sluggish first half and foul trouble for Jackie Brett to bounce back and overwhelm its neighboring rival.

The Quakers extended their lead to 22 points in the 4th quarter as their shots began to fall and it employed a zone press which allowed Greeley to convert numerous turnovers into easy baskets.

Jackie Brett led Greeley with 13 and Issy Berkey added 12 points.  Top^^

GREELEY 64, PORT CHESTER 34

In a game in which almost every Quaker scored, Greeley overwhelmed Port Chester from the opening tipoff for a lopsided victory. Jackie Brett led all scorers with 12 points.  Top^^

RYE 54, GREELEY 49

Greeley lost its second straight game in a nail-biter to Rye. Once again, the Quakers were done in by a late technical foul that awarded the Garnets with two shots and possession on top of the two shots for a personal foul.

Although Rye only hit two out of the four free throws, it was enough to slow down Greeley's momentum as they furiously fought back from an eight point deficit with less than three minutes in the game.

Greeley managed to cut the lead to three points and pressure defense forced a five second violation against Rye as it could not inbound the ball underneath Greeley's basket. The turnover set up one last opportunity to tie the game but the Quakers missed an open three point shot with four seconds left.

Jackie Brett led the Quakers with 19 points and Lindsey Hill chipped in 10 points.  Top^^

BYRAN HILLS 46, GREELEY 42

Greeley allowed a nine-point lead in the 4th quarter slip away as it was outscored 22-8.

The Quakers were flustered by Byram Hills' press. The press led to several key turnovers under the Bobcats' basket that were easily converted to lay-ups, slicing into Greeley's lead.

The final nail in the coffin was when Greeley, down by two points and out of time-outs, could not inbound the ball from midcourt and mistakenly called a time-out with 24 seconds left. As a result, Byram Hills was awarded a two shot technical and possession of the ball which effectively ended Greeley's chances of a final comeback.

Jackie Brett led the Quakers with 13 points and Issy Berkey added 12.  Top^^

GREELEY 55, FOX LANE 51

Greeley held on for a close victory over neighboring rival Fox Lane in a game that it never trailed from the opening tip off.

The Quakers opened up a 15-point lead in the first quarter with torrid shooting from Issy Berkey and threatened to blow open the game. However, Fox Lane slowly chipped away at the lead as Greeley's shooting cooled and tied the game with three minutes remaining. Fortunately, in the last three minutes of the game Jackie Brett hit back-to-back three-pointers from the top of the key and Berkey came off a screen in the corner to hit her fourth three-pointer of the game.

But each time, Fox Lane answered with a basket to keep the game tight. With 30 seconds left, Andi Picker nailed a 12-foot jump shot for the game winner on a feed from Brett after Brett penetrated into the lane.

Brett led Greeley with 21 points and Berkey chipped in with 18 points.  Top^^

GREELEY 56, HARRISON 46

In a televised game on MSG Varsity, Greeley broke open a close game with an 18-2 run. The run, which started with two minutes left in the second quarter and continued until midway through the third quarter, was fueled by mid-range jump shots by Lindsey Hill, deft passing from Jackie Brett, and three-point shooting by Torrie Ganzi.

Notwithstanding foul problems that led to a disparity of 16 foul shots made by Harrison and only 3 by the Quakers, Harrison was never able to cut the lead to less than double digits. Greeley swept the season series having beaten the Huskers in December.

Lindsey Hill led Greeley in scoring with 14 points, Jackie Brett chipped in 11 points, and Torrie Ganzi added 10 points.  Top^^

TAPPAN ZEE 63, GREELEY 36

Greeley hosted undefeated Tappan Zee going into the December break looking to hand them their first defeat.

Although the game was tight for the first 12 minutes, early foul trouble on Jackie Brett forced her to the bench for the better part of the second quarter during which time the Quakers managed to score a total of five points.

Greeley did not fare much better in the second half and received a taste of its own medicine when Tappan Zee hit 5 three-pointers in the third period to extend its lead to 20 points. Tappan Zee's tight man-to-man defense limited Greeley's scoring chances and dashed the Quaker's hope of pulling off the upset.

Jackie Brett led the Quakers with 12 points. Greeley comes out of the Holiday break with a 5-3 record.  Top^^

GREELEY 54, BLIND BROOK 42

Greeley improved its record to 5 and 2 as it broke open a tight game in the 4th quarter with a full court press that created numerous turnovers and easy baskets.

Greeley overcame a slow 2nd quarter in which it endured a 4-minute scoring drought when Jackie Brett was forced to the bench after getting into early foul trouble. As a result, the Quakers trailed at the half by 3 points. However, a much more energized team took the floor in the second half and challenged nearly every shot by Blind Brook, making it difficult for its opponent to score.

Jackie Brett led the Quakers with 21 points and Lindsay Hill added 16 points.  Top^^

GREELEY 76, JOHN JAY CR 72

In the championship game of the Boosters' tournament, Greeley held on to defeat John Jay behind a barrage of three pointers (ten in total) despite a 39 point performance from John Jay's star player, Regan Knox and a free throw disparity of 24 attempts to 5 attempts.

Greeley let a double digit first half lead slip away and ended the third quarter with several players in foul trouble including its point guard and leading scorer, Jackie Brett, who had to sit out for six minutes of the second half after picking up her 4th foul.

Fortunately, Molly Gonzales came off the bench and hit four 3 pointers (16 points in total) to help keep Greeley in the game. Issy Berkey also connected on four 3 pointers and scored a team high 20 points to lead the Quakers. Jackie Brett and Lindsay Hill each contributed 12 points in the winning effort and Andi Picker added two clutch three point field goals for a total of 8 points.  Top^^

GREELEY 55, HARRISON 43

In the opening round of the the Sports Boosters tournament, Greeley topped Harrison with timely three-point shooting by Issy Berkey and Jackie Brett.

In a rare occurrence both Berkey and Brett had four point plays after getting fouled off a made three pointer. However, the Quakers broke open the game in the third quarter when they unleashed a press that created numerous turnovers which led to easy baskets.

Jackie Brett led Greeley with 17 points and Issy Berkey added 17.

Next up for the Quakers in the championship game is John Jay - Cross River on Saturday at 4:00.  Top^^

Ossining 76, Greeley 46

The defending Section 1 AA champions soundly defeated Greeley by employing a stifling full court press that led to numerous turnovers and fast break opportunities.

Although the Quakers did break the relentless pressure to score a few easy baskets of their own and cut the lead down to 15 points toward the end of the third quarter, they simply could not keep pace.

Lindsay Hill lead Greeley with a career high 18 points and Jackie Brett added 17 points.  Top^^

Alexander Hamilton 73, Greeley 64

In a game televised by MSG Varsity, highly touted Alexander Hamilton, a Class C school, handed Greeley its first loss of the season in a fast paced and high scoring contest that had several lead changes.

Although Greeley got off to a fast start and opened an 11 point lead at the end of the first quarter, several of the Quakers' front court players were plagued with foul trouble against a physical Hamilton team. As a result, Hamilton overtook Greeley toward the end of the 3rd quarter and opened up a 12-point lead with 3 minutes left in the game fueled by the post play of its star, Maia Hood, who finished the game with 31 points.

However, Greeley hung tough and forced several turnovers, which led to back to back three pointers by Issy Berkey, cutting the host's lead to 4 points with 90 seconds left. The late surge was too little, too late and Hamilton was able to seal the game from the foul line.

Jackie Brett had a remarkable game and led Greeley with 24 points, scoring on numerous drives in traffic and pull up jumpers with a hand in her face. Issy Berkey chipped in with 15 points and Samantha Srinivasan added 10 points.

Next up for Greeley on Tuesday December 13th is Ossining, the defending Section 1 champions in Class AA.  Top^^

Greeley 59, Clarkstown North 37

Greeley convincingly defeated Clarkstown North to win the Lakeland tournament for the second consecutive year.

Clarkstown North's attempt to open the game with a full court press of the Quakers backfired and led to numerous fast break lay-ups and a 20 point scoring outburst in the first quarter.

Jackie Brett led the team with 17 points and was named tournament MVP. Andi Picker, who was on the receiving end of several assists from Jackie Brett, scored 14 points, all on driving lay-ups to the basket and breakways off of defensive steals. Issy Berkey was named to the all tournament team.  Top^^

GREELEY 40, PANAS 27

In the first round of the Lakeland tournament, Greeley opened its season with a win in a game in which it never tailed from the tip off.

Freshman Molly Gonzalez scored all 9 of her points in the second half including two three-pointers in response to several runs by Panas, which had cut the lead to 7 points. Issy Berkey also scored 9 points and Jackie Brett chipped in with 7 points. Strong rebounding by Sam Srinivasan and Lindsey Hill anchored a stingy defense.

The Quakers play in the championship game on Saturday, December 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at Lakeland High School.  Top^^
