The final dual meet of the regular season for
the Greeley boys swim team began on Tuesday,
Jan. 29 with the stands filled to capacity.
The long-anticipated meet drew an energized
crowd filled with Quaker swimming fans: swim
team alum, alum parents, Greeley parents, the
Varsity girls’ swim team (and their parents) and
friends by the dozens -- all cheering for the
undefeated Quakers to bring home a win.

The excitement began with the 200 medley
relay. The Quakers won in a thrilling finish,
setting the tone for the remaining events. The
swimmers were buoyed by divers who placed 2nd,
3rd and 4th in their portion of the meet. The
swimming continued with a carefully-crafted
lineup, some races so close they were ruled an
official tie, splitting the points in half
between the two teams. With every race the
Quakers swam closer to their 112.5 - 73.5
victory over Suffern.
The dual meet season ended with pride and
tremendous sportsmanship. With this victory over
rival Suffern capping an undefeated 8-0 record,
the Quakers are springing confidently into the
championship phase of the high school season.
The next splash for the Quakers will be the
Divisional Championships. This meet will see the
best swimmers in the division swim against one
another. The teams represented will be Greeley,
Suffern, White Plains, John Jay, Tappan Zee,
Clarkstown, North Rockland, Rye and the
combined team of Pleasantville, Armonk and
Briarcliff. This two part meet begins with
diving at Pace University on Friday, Feb. 1st at
5 p.m. and continues with swimming on Saturday,
Feb. 2nd at White Plains High School at 9 a.m.
(Editor's note: the diving has been moved to
White Plains at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 2,
swimming to follow.)
The pressure will certainly be on the Greeley
swimmers and divers to continue the impressive
winning streak through the divisional meet and
beyond – to ultimately regain the sectional
title and add “2008” to the banner which hangs
proudly over the pool.

Chappaqua for 20 plus years. They have three
sons, all of whom swim and two who are currently
on the Greeley swim team.
